Freedom | Freedom is a door, you turn the key in your mind and you walk through it. | HartHaiku.com

Freedom | Is Yours

“You are free when you believe you are.” I know, this sounds too simplistic, yes? But think about it, you were born as a free spirit into this world. What convinced you that you are not? Society? The rules? Your upbringing?

Freedom begins in our minds. It is a belief, a thought form, it resides in the deepest part of our souls. It is always there, but it can become very buried.

Ask yourself today, “Am I really free in my mind?” And if your answer is no, perhaps it is time to ask yourself why. What are the thoughts that hold you hostage?

“You are free when you believe you are.”  The doorway is waiting.

Inspirational Quotes:

“Life without liberty is like a body without spirit.” ~ Kahlil Gibran

“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” ~ Benjamin Franklin

“The secret to happiness is freedom. And the secret to freedom is courage.” ~ Thucydides

“Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds.” ~ Bob Marley

“The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can’t be any large-scale revolution until there’s a personal revolution, on an individual level. It’s got to happen inside first.” ~ Jim Morrison

New Frontier | Explorer Spirit, the haunting call of my soul to forge new frontiers. | HartHaiku.com

New Frontier | Spirit

Famous explorers of old had the support of their kings and queens to discover new lands, fresh opportunities for growth and settlement, expansion of old empires. Supplies and some men and ships, plus gold coins as incentive and fortification of the spirit, got the job done. Rumors of more riches to be had, as well as peoples to be conquered, further fueled the desire of some power hungry leaders of exploration.

But for the more common men and women who followed them into the New World, their reasons were different. A deep desire burned for a new life outside of their known society, to feel the wide open spaces where one’s spirit could breathe again, and explore the freedom of a more personal say in the course of one’s own destiny. This was not an easy path. It took courage, sacrifice, hard work, and diligence to make a life in unknown territory.

Determination of the human spirit

History has a way of repeating itself. We see patterns of domination and control, followed by humanity’s uprising of spirit to find a way out, onward and upward. The human spirit has proven over and over again, it will never be defeated. Sometimes it gets lost, but in times of challenge it reveals itself one again, ready to blossom and flourish.

Our current experience is feeling limited in potential and tired in spirit. In short, it is old. The question to ask ourselves right now is, “What is that next frontier we want to carve out? What does that next new world we desire look and feel like?”

We will create that next new experience

Consider that since new places on this Earth are getting used up, perhaps that next frontier is not one just fueled by spirit, but it will be one OF spirit, an expansion of our collective consciousness.

It is time for us to develop that vision in our imaginations, creating and honing it with the fire of our deep desire. This new world will be ours. We just need to muster a little courage to head out into the unknown, and we will never look back.

Spirit | How can something which gives us joy be deemed by them "Unacceptable"?

Spirit | Uncrushable

Someone once told me, “Music is part of the joy wave”. This is not hard to grasp, when you consider that each generation has its music, its sound, that special combination of notes, words and beat that resonates and speaks to its heart and soul.

Post WWII in Russia, there were citizens who risked their own personal freedom to bring western music to the people. It had been banned; only particular Russian music could be possessed and played. This is a story about more than music. It is one of freedom, and the will of the human spirit to overcome soul crushing oppression.

It’s a fascinating story, even if you’re not particularly a huge music lover. Rest assured, there is something that you love as much as they loved music, that you would fight not to lose. The story of Bone Music here:

Bone music: the Soviet bootleg records pressed on x-rays

In freer western societies, it may be hard for people to comprehend not having the simple access to music they love. That basic freedom of choice just is. And yet, is it? Right now there is heated dispute about who should decide and dictate what people can think and say. And I stand back from it and I think, why is this even in debate? Were we not born with the inalienable right to think our own thoughts and express them freely?

Food for thought for your day.

Nonconformist | Dare to be

“We can not solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them”, is one of my fave Albert Einstein quotes. Personally I abhor the commonly used phrase, “It’s always been done that way…” How about you?

Looking at the state of the world today, I do believe we are in desperate need of more nonconformists, people who refuse to see or do it the same old way.

Are you deep down yearning to be a nonconformist, but haven’t quite taken the plunge? A quick, easy read with tips: 7 Steps to Becoming a Nonconformist

Inspirational Quotes:

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.” ~ Albert Einstein

“I think the reward for conformity is that everyone likes you except yourself.” ~ Rita Mae Brown

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

“One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be, rather than being yourself.” ~ Shannon L. Alder

“Know the rules well, so you can break them effectively.” ~ The Dalai Lama

“It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” ~ J. Krishnamurti
