Rich | You are the gold

Experience and learning, love and the people in your life are the gold. Your soul is the gold. YOU are the gold.

Society’s formula for rich = happy

We live in a world that prays to the almighty dollar. For many, the idea of rich is lots of money in the bank, and the ability to buy anyTHING they want. But is this true abundance? What if the money all went away overnight? Do you really have any control over that? What have you invested in today that would be worth anyTHING tomorrow?

At the end of the day, in the journey of your soul and when you look back from your deathbed, the things you accumulated will mean nothing.

YOU are the gold. Invest in yourself, starting today.

Look, I know why you hesitate. I have too. It’s called fear, and we all grapple with it. Until there arrives this magic moment (and often in desperation) when we ask ourselves, “Why am I holding myself back this way? I know there is more in me than this. I know I can be happier than this.”

We all fear risk of loss and making mistakes. But there is a goldmine waiting to be tapped within you. Learning brings wisdom, and that is gold in your pocket, wealth of a different kind. When you do the work, do the learning, your metamorphosis is inevitable.

And all those external things you yearned for will flow to you like a river. Funny thing is, you will enjoy them, but they will no longer be something you need. The true happiness already came to you from within.

The seated Buddha is giving the abaya mudra gesture, which depicts fearlessness, and the wisdom achieved with enlightenment.

Be fearless in your journey. Mine your inner gold, your learning and wisdom.

Instant Gratification | True self-fulfillment can't be purchased with money. The real stuff takes work. | HartHaiku.com

Instant Gratification | The lie

Inspirational Quotes:

“Because money permits a constant stream of luxuries and indulgences, it can take away their savor, and by permitting instant gratification, money shortcuts the happiness of anticipation. Scrimping, saving, imagining, planning, hoping – these stages enlarge the happiness we feel.”  ~ Gretchen Rubin

“The problem of society today: An absolute lifestyle of entitlement. People gauge everything by “feeling”, meaning whatever they feel like doing or whatever they don’t feel like doing. Passion is valued over dedication. Instant gratification is prized over true fulfillment. They don’t know that more than feeling; intuition is the better key. They don’t know that more than passion; fulfillment and dedication are the better keys. True passion will produce dedication and ultimately, fulfillment. If not, then it should not be called passion; it should just be called a lack of self control/ immaturity.”  ~ C. JoyBell C.

“It’s often suggested that as a culture, we’re only interested in immediate gratification. Fast food. Self-checkout. Downloadable music, movies, books. Instant coffee, instant rebates, instant messaging. Instant weight loss! Shall I go on?” ~ Stephanie Perkins

Wild Interlude 1 | Essence

Walk into this beautiful scene, just for a moment.
Feel the warm sun drenching your body.
Breathe deeply the sweet smell of green on the soft breeze.
Hear the gently trickling, soothing water.
Relax your muscles, and your mind. Go to that place in yourself that is wild and unencumbered.
Remember the essence of you.

Inspirational Quote:

“Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.” ~ Henry David Thoreau

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature, the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.” ~ Rachel Carson

“Not just beautiful, though – the stars are like the trees in the forest, alive and breathing. And they’re watching me.” ~ Haruki Murakami

“and when all the wars are over, a butterfly will still be beautiful.” ~ Ruskin Bond

Today | Start of a new day. Have you given your thoughts space to bring good to you? | HartHaiku.com

Today | Your time & worth

Today there are the three powerful little ideas wrapped up in my haiku: Time, thought, and your worth.

Time: Do you fully embrace each day? We know we are mortal (and our ego fears it), but, we still tend to live life as though we have an endless supply of days. You have the choice, right now, to make the most of today. Wring every beautiful moment out of it that you can. Because when it’s over, today is not coming around again. Don’t miss out on anything that you could enjoy, embrace, love, or learn right now. Fully immerse yourself in your life. A movie that drives this idea home brilliantly is About Time. If you haven’t seen it, try to.

Thought: Is your mind consumed with your to-do list the second you wake up? Do your thoughts dwell too often on problems, your personal ones and those of the world? Is there any time today reserved for contemplation, introspection, gratitude for the good things you already have in your life? (Gratitude expands abundance.) And perhaps most importantly, mindful intention to create your ideal life? If not, I strongly urge you to make space for those.

Your worth: Do you even believe that you deserve to have good things come your way? You do. If you don’t believe it, long term you have some internal work to do. But in the meantime, I’ll bet you have at least one champion in your life – you know, a person who believes in you, when you can’t or won’t believe in yourself – that loves you enough to talk you through this. Connect with that person, somehow or some way, even if it’s for just a quick “Hi”. Today, surround yourself with your champions. (And don’t forget to express gratitude and take an interest in their lives too. A balanced life involves mutual exchange.)

Today is all we’ve really got. Please, hear the call, pick up the ball, and run as fast as you can towards your happiness.

Today.
